Five kinds of background

  • Colour: brand colours for thumbnails and team pages; one flat colour always looks tidy.
  • White: for listings and documents; see the white background page for marketplace tips.
  • Blur: keeps the real setting but pushes it out of focus, like a portrait lens.
  • Your photo: a beach, an office, a product set you shot yourself.
  • AI scene: describe it (“oak shelf with plants, soft daylight”) and the AI background generator paints it.

Make the swap believable

Match the light. If the sun hits your face from the left, choose a background lit from the left. Our eyes forgive a lot, but not light coming from two directions.

Match the perspective. A product shot from above won’t sit naturally on a background photographed at eye level.

Ground it. Real objects cast a shadow. The soft drop shadow adds one under your subject.

Keep the edges soft. A little semi-transparency along hair lets the new colours bleed through, as they would in a real photo.

How do I change the background of a photo?

Drop your photo above. The AI separates the subject, then pick a background: a solid colour, a blurred version of the original, a photo of your own, or an AI-generated scene from a short description. Download when it looks right.

How do I change the background colour of a photo?

Choose “Colour” under Background, then tap a swatch or open the colour picker for any exact shade. The colour fills the whole frame behind your subject.

Can I use my own photo as the new background?

Yes. Choose “Your photo” and pick an image; it is scaled to cover the frame behind your subject. Everything stays on your device.

Why does my subject look pasted on?

Usually the lighting doesn’t match. Pick a background with light from the same side as in your photo, add the soft drop shadow, and keep Softness high enough (50+) that the edges blend.

Can I change the background of several photos the same way?

Yes. Drop up to 20 photos; the background, edge and crop settings you choose are applied to all of them when you download the ZIP.
