You’ll need: Built-in options depend on the brand: Samsung Gallery on One UI 5.1+, Pixel with recent Android versions.
Samsung: long-press in Gallery
Open a photo, touch and hold the subject until it is outlined, then choose Copy or Save as image.
Other phones: use your browser
Open quickcutout.com in Chrome, tap “Drop a photo here”, choose the picture from your gallery.
Save the PNG
Tap Download PNG; the file lands in Downloads and in your gallery.
What Android can’t do well
Built-in lifting varies widely by brand and model.

Chrome saves to the Downloads folder; most gallery apps show it under Downloads.
Is there a faster way than Android?
If you just need the cutout, drop the picture into QuickCut’s free background remover: no signup, a transparent PNG in seconds, with edge controls and erase/restore brushes. Then open the PNG in any app.
