How to remove a background in Google Slides
Google Slides can display transparent images perfectly but has no general background remover for standard accounts.
You’ll need: Any browser. A transparent PNG or WebP of your image.
Cut out the image first
Remove the background with QuickCut (or another tool) and download a PNG.
Insert the PNG
In Slides, choose Insert → Image → Upload from computer, or drag the file onto the slide.
Adjust if needed
Right-click → Format options lets you change transparency, brightness and add a drop shadow.
What Google Slides can’t do well
Slides’ Format options “Transparency” fades the whole image, background included; it doesn’t remove the background.
Questions people ask
Why does my image still have a white box in Slides?
The file itself has a white background, usually because it was saved as JPG. Use a PNG with real transparency.
Does Slides keep PNG transparency?
Yes. Transparent PNG and WebP images show the slide behind them.
Is there a faster way than Google Slides?
If you just need the cutout, drop the picture into QuickCut’s free background remover: no signup, a transparent PNG in seconds, with edge controls and erase/restore brushes. Then open the PNG in Google Slides.
